AREA - A - CHAMPAGNE - VOSGES NORD - Aisne (02), Ardennes (08), Marne (51), Haute Marne (52), Meurthe-et-Moselle (54), Meuse (55), Moselle (57), Vosges (88).
The most northern section of the book does not have so many cliffs. The Ardennes has the town Monthermé with the volcanic outcrops of Roc La Tour - great views and nice ambience, and the very steep and powerful Coprias just beneath and above the bend on the road. Main cliff of the area is Lerouville, with a nice selectiion of routes (100+) and mostly technical vertical walls. Saint-Mihiel is a pocket limestone powerhouse with plenty for the 7c climber to thrash about. Vertus is big pockets for grade 5-6 climbers, above the champagne vineyards - how can you not have a great day there.
